Road-traffic signals on vehicles.-A lens for use in a direction-indicator for road vehicles comprise.s a solid glass body 1 with a recess 2 bounded by plane surfaces, the body 1 being of such external curvature that the lens segments formed by the recess have foci which are substantially coincident with an electric lamp bulb arranged within the recess. The lens may be made of red or other coloured glass. The indicator shown in Fig. 5 is adapted to be mounted on the side of the vehicle, preferably towards the top and the bounding planes of the recess are at right angles to one another so that beams of light are projected forwardly in the direction of the arrow 8, sidewise, and rearwardly, when the bulb 7 is lighted from the driver's seat. A cover plate 4 may be arranged above, or above and below, the lens to prevent sunlight causing a false signal, the cover plate being carried by a nipple 6 for the electric leads.
