380,033. Street lamps. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. May 30, 1932, No. 15295. Convention date, June 5, 1931. [Class 75 (iv).] Light reflected by trough-shaped reflectors ; lighting, systems of.-A street lamp comprises a linear light source so disposed with respect to a vertically arranged reflector as to avoid dazzling the driver of an oncoming vehicle. The light source may comprise a number of electric lamp bulbs in line with each other, a tubular bulb with a straight filament, or a neon, krypton, or sodium discharge tube. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the light source 3 is disposed in a recess in a Z-iron 5 carrying oppositely disposed cylindrical reflectors 2A, 2B and opal glass diffusing partitions 4. The lamps are arranged as shown in Fig. 4 so that the reflectors 2A project beams q substantially in the traffic directions p along the roadway P, whilst the reflectors 2B project beams ql in the opposite directions across the footpaths R, S.
