Abstract
319,869. Smith, R, A., and Smith, J. E. April 10, 1929. Anti-dazzle screens.-In an anti-dazzle arrangement for road traffic in which use is made of plane polarized light, the beam or beams projected by a vehicle headlamp or a stationary lamp is or are plane polarized at the source and is or are viewed by light reflected or refracted by one or more analysers suitably orientated and situated, for example, on the vehicle windscreen. The analysers may be provided with absorbers, reflectors, or diffusers to act as shields preventing any extraneous light proceeding in the direction of the observer. The efficiency of an analyser may be increased by using glass packs or the equivalents either in series or in parallel or both in series and in parallel. Any of the mirrors or glass packs may be pivotally mounted so that they may be set in any desired angular position. The Figure shows an analyser comprising two glass packs c, c' arranged in parallel and which may be combined with further glass packs c<2>, c<3>.
