Abstract

324,837. Gale, M. E. Feb. 27, 1929. Anti-dazzle screens. - For protecting a vehicle driver from the dazzling effects of approaching headlights a beam of light, preferably having a bluish tint, is directed from a lamp against the inner surface of the windscreen 1. The lamp 5, which is preferably supported so that the beam falls at a relatively large angle of incidence, is surrounded by a shield or screen 8 and by a reflector 2, which is formed as a parabolic mirror of elliptical cross-section, the major axis being parallel with the plane of the windscreen. A diffusing lens 9 is mounted in the mouth of the reflector, and either the shield 8 or the lens 9 or both are coloured to give the required tint to the projected beam.
