Abstract
302,656. Borel, J. Dec. 19. 1927, [Convention date]. Addition to 301,309. Vehicle lamps.-In a vehicle lamp in which the source of light is partly or wholly surrounded by half-lenses which co-operate with inclined reflectors or prisms to intercept diverging rays of light and project them into beams which are directed forwardly and horizontally or slightly downwards, as described in the parent Specification, the halflenses are arranged to intercept laterally directed rays of light and co-operate with inclined reflectors or prisms to project such rays into beams which are also directed forwardly and horizontally or slightly downwards. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 3, a filament 1 is disposed parallel with the, direction of travel, and on either side of the filament is arranged a lower half lens 3 and a vertical reflector 4 arranged at an angle of 45‹ to the direction of travel. An upper reflector 2 may be provided with its lower edge in the horizontal plane containing the filament 1, or two upper half lenses 5 and two slightly downwardly inclined reflectors 6 also may be employed, in which case the reflector 2 is apertured for the emission of rays of light reflected forwardly by the reflectors 6, whilst still forming a, screen 7 for the upwardly directed direct rays of tight from the filament 1. In the form shown in Figs. 5 and 6. rays of light directed rearwardly from a horizontal transverse filament 1 are intercepted by a lower half lens 8 and reflected forwardly by two adjacent prisms 9, 9<1>, or by two pairs of refectors 10, 10<1>. An upper half lens and suitably inclined prisms or reflectors also may be employed.
