391,117. Vehicle lamps. LUCAS, Ltd., J. and LUCAS, 0., Great King Street, Birmingham. Oct. 14, 1931, No. 28525. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv).] Lantern fronts.-In a vehicle lamp in which the electric lamp bulb is provided with a screen in association with one of a pair of filaments, a refracting device is arranged at the front of, or within, the lamp so that the upper side of the forward portion of the screened beam may be inclined downwardly without interfering with the effectiveness of the normal beam. In the form shown, the lower half of the front glass a is formed with a number of refracting surfaces b which refract upwardly the lower portion c of the normal beam from the focal filament s, the whole lamp being slightly downwardly inclined. Alternatively, the refracting surfaces may be formed in the upper half of the front glass so as to refract downwardly the upper half d of the normal beam and the beam e from the screened filament h.
