Abstract

520,114. Highway lighting fittings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., MAXTED, R., and GARRY, F. K. Oct. 27, 1938 No. 31112. [Class 75 (iv)] The direction of the beams from highway lighting &c. fittings is varied by means of refractor panels 3 mounted slidably in channels 2 behind the glass panels 4 which may be provided with curved prisms to diffuse or spread the refracted light. The light source 1 may consist of a mercury or sodium vapour discharge lamp. The lantern may be of triangular or trapezoidal cross-section and the panels 3, 4 may be so dimensioned to prevent the emission of direct light rays.
