Abstract
533,030. Street lamps. SUGG & CO., Ltd., W., and SUGG, P. C. Aug. 3, 1939, No. 22559. [Class 75 (iv)] A street lamp has a number of burners 2 arranged in a group of elongated form and reflectors 3, 4 arranged back to back and at opposite ends of the group to direct light in opposite directions and in the general direction of the major axis of the elongated group of burners. The reflectors are spaced apart to enable light to pass from the central burners of the group directly to the carriageway beneath. The reflectors are cut away at C to enable the end burners of the group to extend into the reflectors which are of paraboloidal form. One or more secondary reflectors 5 of paraboloidal form may be provided. The burners and reflectors may be arranged within a casing 6 provided with glass panels 7. For illuminating a T-road a lateral extension with reflectors may be provided and for illuminating cross roads, two groups of burners and reflectors in the form of a cross are used.
