Abstract

[Class 110 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] A valve 11 connected to a diaphragm 15 and loaded by a spring 22 is fitted in a casing having the connection 18 connected to a reservoir and the connection 17 to the suction of a fuel pump. Should the pressure in the connection 18 rise, e.g. when the reservoir rises above the level of the pump causing a gravity feed, then the pressure acting on the diaphragm 15 closes the valve. A flexible link 20 in a casing 21 is connected to the valve and functions as an indicator and manual control. Fig. 2 shows a pump 23 drawing from two tanks 24, 25 of different size, and a valve 11 is fitted in each pipe C. When a tank empties, the change in pressure in the pipe C causes its valve 11 to close. The Provisional Specification describes also an arrangement wherein the connection 18 is connected to the fuel pump and the connection 17 to the reservoir.
