Indicators actuated by pressure of head of liquid. - A liquid level indicator comprises a shallow chamber 2 fitted with a gauze liquid baffle 4 and communicating at its lower part with the bottom of the liquid reservoir 1 by means of a pipe or aperture 3 and at its upper part 6 with a pressure gauge 8 through an air pipe 5 connected to an air pump 9 and rising above the liquid level in the reservoir 1. The chamber 2 is of a sufficient capacity ratio to that of the air pipe 5 to allow for variations of atmospheric pressure during flights when used as a petrol tank for an aeroplane and of such a shallow depth as to make the liquid head variation in it negligible. The pump 9 is of sufficient capacity to charge the whole air system at one stroke. When a tank is pressure-fed the case of the pressure gauge and the pump suction inlet are connected with the top of the petrol tank by means of pipes 12 and 13.
