Measuring-devices; pipes; priming. - In a measuring piston pump for distributing liquids the delivery pipe 7 is primed up to a reference mark on a sight-glass 13 before delivery by means of a suction device such as an air pump 10 connected to the pipe 7 by a pipe 9. When the pump 4 is delivering to the pipe 8, the pipe 9 is cut off by a valve 11. Any liquid drawn over by the pump 10 is returned through a float chamber 15 to the suction side of the pump 4 or directly to the reservoir 1. The pipe 9 may have a float chamber 21 which cuts it off from the pipe 7 by means of a float valve 23 when the liquid reaches the chamber. In this form, the rotary valve 11 may be replaced by an automatic non-return valve.
