Abstract

320,163. Parr, G. W. July 25, 1928. Indicators actuated by pressure of head of liquid. - In apparatus for indicating the level in the fuel tank of a motor vehicle, by means of the pressure in an air pipe dipping into the liquid, the dipping pipe 1 surrounds a pipe 7 through which air is pumped to maintain the piping full of air. The pump comprises a flexible diaphrgam 3 carrying a weight 4 which is vibrated by the movement of the vehicle. Air is drawn in through valve 5 and delivered through valve 6 to the pipe 7. The lower end of the pipe 1 may be cut off at an angle, and a hand operated pump may also be employed for supplying air when the vehicle is at rest.
