Abstract
338,529. Weymann, C. T. March 29, 1929, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Indicators actuated by pressure of head of liquid.-In liquid level indicators for fuel tanks of motor vehicles, of the kind in which air or gas is forced through an open pipe dipping into the liquid and its pressure measured, the pressure gas is derived from the engine exhaust pipe and is supplied to the dipping pipe through means which damp out any pressure variations. The exhaust pipe 5 is connected through a pipe of small bore 10 to a pipe 1 dipping into the fuel tank, and to a pipe 3 leading to a gauge 4 which measures the pressure due to the head of liquid. In another form, Fig. 2, the pipe 10 terminates within the larger pipe 1 leading to the gauge, and the end 10<b> is slightly above the lower end of the pipe 1 so that the pipe 1 is not connected to atmosphere through the pipe 10 when the engine is stopped, and correct indications are still given.
