241,562. Guichard, L. April 24, 1924, [Convention date]. Indicators actuated by pressure of head of liquid.-In a liquid level indicator, particularly for petrol, the pressure due to the head of liquid is transmitted to a gauge through a seal of glycerine or the like. The gauge 6 is connected by a pipe 2 to a pipe 3 dipping into the liquid in the tank 4, an enlargement 5 being provided to prevent liquid entering the pipe 2 when the tank is full. An enlargement 11 contains mercury or glycerine, which are non-miscible with petrol, and pressure is transmitted through a membrane 12 which is pervious to petrol but not to the liquid in the space 11. The space 5 and pipe 2 may contain air, or the whole system may be filled with glycerine.
