Abstract
455,778. Fuel - injection pumps. BRYCE, Ltd., Kelvin Works, and THOMAS, A. H. J., 55, Senga Road, both in Hackbridge, Surrey, and LAWSON, C. W., 80, Shrewsbury Lane, Woolwich, London. Aug. 11, 1936, No. 22121. [Class 102 (i)] The delivery valve of a fuel - injection pump has a conical surface 14 co-operating with a seat 12 and a piston surface 15 closely fitting the bore 9. The valve has a high lift and flow takes place when the surface 15 leaves the bore 9. A calibrated passage 24 permits a flow from the delivery pipe to the pump chamber until the valve engages the seat 12 thus preventing drip at the injection nozzle. The bore may have recesses uncovered by the surface 15 towards the end of the lift of the valve. The stop 19 may be adjustable by a governor or other means.
