Abstract
421,285. Fuel -injection pumps for internal-combustion engines. PILGRIMS WAY MOTOR CO., Ltd., GRAVENOR, J., and ARMITAGE, E. L., Weydon Hill, Farnham, Surrey. June 14, 1933, Nos. 16927/33, 31915/33, and 6272/34. [Class 102 (i)] Fuel-injection pumps for Diesel and like engines are provided between the working chamber and the pipe line with a non-displacement two-way valve which on each relief of the injection pressure permits the return transfer of fuel from the pipe line for reducing the pressure therein and preventing drip at the injection nozzle and then closes. A valve f is disposed in a casing c and when seated on the plate d shuts off the working chamber a of the pump from the pipe line. Flats f<1> on the valve provide fuel passages f<3> through which, and holes e<1> in a spring pressed plate e, fuel is delivered to the pipe line. When the spill port of the pump opens and the working pressure drops, fuel returns from the pipe line through the passages f<8> to the pump a until the valve reseats itself. A spring g keeps the valve closed when the pump is not working and prevents drainage from the pipe line. A head may be formed on the valve body and to seat on top of the block d. In a modification, the main delivery valve i contains with its body portion i<1> a separate anti-dribble valve i f having a seating f<10> therein.
