Abstract

387,586. Fuel pumps. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd., 88, Regent Street, London. July 2, 1932, No. 18795. Convention date, Feb. 23, 1932. [Class 102 (i).] A fuel pump for delivering fuel from the fuel tank to the carburetter comprises a diaphragm 25 clamped between the strainer casing 26 and the body of the pump. The pump rod 49 has bearing faces 50 sliding in a sleeve 18 actuated by the tappet rod 21 and loaded b y a strong spring 20. A weak spring 53 acts upon the diaphragm to cause the delivery stroke. The casing 26 houses the suction and delivery valves 36, 45 and a filtering screen 37 is so positioned that the fuel enters below it and flows upwards.
