Abstract

395,195. Fuel pumps. CONSTANTINE, W. W., 111, Grosvenor Road, London.- (A.C. Spark Plug Co.; Flint, Michigan, U.S.A.) Sept. 20, 1932, No. 26180. [Class 102 (i).] In a diaphragm fuelpump for supplying a carburetter the discharge stroke is produced by two springs, an inner spring 43, which produces a constant stroke of the inner portion of the diaphragm 17, and an outer spring 41 which produces a variable stroke of the peripheral portion of the diaphragm in accordance with the demand and consequent back pressure in the pumping chamber 15. The diaphragm is secured to the operating-rod 45 between a lower disc 49 and an upper disc 51, the latter being formed with perforations 55. The spring 43 acts on the disc 49 and the spring 41 acts on an outer washer 57. The rod 45 is operated from an engine cam through a forked lever which engages a neck in the rod.
