Abstract

486,399. Two-part couplings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Nov. 9,1937, No. 30721. Convention date, March 12. [Class 38 (i)] A holder for a tubular lamp having lateral contact caps is fitted with a slide that in one position locks the cap into the holder and in another position frees the cap and covers the live contact in the holder. The cap 2 has lateral grooves 3 with which ridges 12 on the side walls of a slide 10 engage when the slide is in the position shown in Fig. 4. In this position a spring 13 provides electrical connection between a live contact 8 in the holder and a contact 18 on the cap 2. When the slide 10 is drawn out, the lamp is disconnected electrically and mechanically and the live contact 8 is covered by an extension 15 of the base of the slide. A projection 14 on the spring g 13 limits the movement of the slide. Specification 262,424, [Class 39 (ii)], is referred to.
