Abstract
536,625. Lamp-holders. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and TUPPEN, E. B. Nov. 22, 1939, No. 30556. [Class 38 (i)] A holder, especially for doubleended tubular lamps, comprises a base 15 within which is mounted a rotatable part 19 carrying contacts 32 that move into and out of engagement with fixed spring contacts 17. The contacts 32 house spring plungers projecting into a slot 30 into which slides the lamp cap 12 having contacts 13 shielded by guiding plates 14. In the opencircuit position the spring contacts engage insulating cam surfaces 35 on the rotatable member 19 and the groove 30 registers with a slot 34 in a shroud 18. When the lamp is inserted and turned through a right-angle the contacts 32 are brought into engagement with the spring contacts 17 and the shroud 18 closes the groove 30. For a single-ended lamp a projection on the side of the cap moves round a groove in the shroud and prevents endwise removal of the lamp when the circuit is closed.
