Abstract

466,943. Two - part couplings combined with switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Nov. 10, 1936, No. 30681. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1935. [Class 38 (i)] A holder for the end of a double-ended lamp comprises a ring 10 cut away at the top to allow insertion of the lamp, a plate 13 carrying a flange 3 similarly cut away and adapted to rotate within the ring 10 and a plate 4 to retain the plate 13 in place. The lamp cap has projections 20, 21 that engage the edges 16, 17 of the flange 3 and form the means for rotating the plate 13 when the lamp is inserted and rotated. A bent projection 22 enters a groove 12 in the ring 10 as the lamp is rotated and engages a spring plunger 8 connected to the contact 7 that fits over a contact 5 in the mount 1 to which a supply cable 6 leads. The moving part of the plunger 8 may be spaced from the strip 7<1> so that it becomes live only when pressed down by the projection 22. Two holders can be placed back to back to receive adjacent ends of aligned lamps.
