Abstract

526,409. Lamp-holders. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and HARRIS, N. L. March 15, 1939, No. 8320. [Class 38 (i)] A holder for a tubular lamp having three pins on the cap to co-operate with an annular and a transverse groove in the holder as described in Specification 507,549, has the contact for engagement with the central pin formed as a liner or a pair of jaws located in the transverse groove. The pin is thus engaged laterally and the contact is not affected by variations in the length of the cap. In the form shown, the annular groove is defined by a central boss 3 and a circular hole in the cover that fits over the contacts 6 and the transverse groove 4 is prolonged by a slot in the cover. The central pin engages a contact 8 in the groove 4 bent up from a strip 9 attached to a terminal 10. An impedance may be inserted between the contact and the terminal. According to the Provisional Specification a press-button switch on the holder , may be operated by the lamp cap on insertion into the holder.
