Abstract
674,578. Lamp-holders. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. July 25, 1950 Aug. 4, 1949], No. 18568/50. Class 38 (i). A socket-outlet comprises an insulating housing formed in two parts 1, 2 and defining a threaded lamp socket 6 at one end and a plug pin-receiving socket at the other end. Resilient contact strips 13, 14 positioned in slots in the parts 1, 2 extend between opposite ends of the housing and are curved at the pin receiving end to form contact blades 28, 29 lying adjacent plug pin entry slots 8, 9 in the housing. At the opposite end the strip 13 forms the lateral contact of the socket 6 being extended at 30 to lie against the wall of the housing and having dimples 31, 32 which form a continuation of the thread 7 in the housing. Strip 14 is bent over to form a central contact 33. Leads 11, 12 enter the housing through a lateral opening 18 and are bent round the centre portions of strips 13, 14 respectively being maintained in contact therewith by the pressure exerted by the housing parts when assembled. A spring clip 3 serving as a mounting means for the holder has a portion 4 extending through the housing parts and being bent over to secure them together.
