Abstract

667,672. Two-part couplings. BRITISH THOMPSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 13, 1948 [Dec. 16, 1947], No. 32178/48. Class 38 (i). A plug comprises a moulded insulating core 1 having a T-shaped recess 4 which receives a twin lead 21 connected to contact blades 3 mounted on the core. The latter is slid into a hollow housing 2 and releasably held by spring detents 18 on the blades. The arms 5 of the recess 4 have projecting edges 7 over which each lead is bent, the bared wires thereof being passed over projections into grooves 10 providing shoulders 12 on to which the blades are pressed and positioned by shoulders 8 engaging prongs 20 on the blades. The housing 2 has projections 14 which define shoulders 15, 16 engageable by the detents 18 and shoulders 19 on the blades 3, respectively. The plug may have either an end outlet whereby the lead is held in line with the blades, or a side outlet when the base 6 of the groove 4 is inclined (as shown).
