Abstract
676,043. Two-part couplings. HOOVER, Ltd. May 11, 1950. [May 26, 1949], No. 11741/50. Class 38 (i). A plug connector comprises an insulating block 10 having recesses defined by walls 20 ... 23 in which are received the plug contacts 25, 26 connected to the cable leads 35, the assembly being secured together by a jacket 30 of resilient insulating material slid over the block. The block has a central channel 11 for the cable 34 which communicates with the recesses for the contacts 25, 26, the leads being diverted around the ends of the walls 22, 23 by the projection 24 in the channel 11. The contacts 25, 26 protrude through openings 12, 13 in the block and have locating lugs 27 which bed in recesses 14, 15 in the walls 20, 21. The latter are also recessed at 16, 17 for offsets 28 from the contacts and at 18, 19 to accommodate the binding screws 29. Supporting projections may be provided on the jacket 30. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown), the walls 22, 23 are omitted forming thereby a large central recess which receives the leads. A rigid cover is slid over the assembled block and contacts and the jacket is secured thereon by a pin passing through the connector.
