Abstract

894,284. Two-part couplings. LIGHT & POWER ACCESSORIES CO. Ltd., and DENNIS, E. G. Aug. 25, 1960 [Aug. 26, 1959], No. 29166/59. Class 38 (1). The socket 1 of a plug-and-socket connector made of insulating material, has a bore 2 containing a lining 3 which has terminal strips 4 printed on it and connected to terminal blocks 5 separated from each other by insulating ribs 6. The corresponding plug 12 has a projection 11 of insulating material having contact elements 13 in its periphery and connected to terminal blocks of known type. Key 17 on the plug fits in groove 18 in the socket to ensure correct coupling. An annular spring 10A ensures resilient contact between the plug-andsocket and a spring 9 acts on an insulating shutter 10 which may be used to eject the plug when external coupling means are released. If large currents are to be passed the contact surface area is increased by corrugation and they may be plated, e.g. with silver or palladium.
