Abstract

872,171. Two-part couplings. SALE, B. Sept. 24, 1958 [Sept. 25, 1957], No. 30066/57. Class 38 (1). In a socket connector comprising an outer casing 1, 12, enclosing insulating blocks 2, 3, carrying resilient socket contacts 11, the casing part 12 carries a cam 8 operable by an external handle 5 to compress the contacts 11 on to the pins 14 of a plug. Metal and insulating strips 6, 7 are interposed between the contacts and the cam or the cam may be made of insulating material. Alternatively the contacts may have insulating strips in their side walls. In the operative position of the cam, the handle 5 engages the top of the plug.
