Abstract
914,296. Two-part couplings. BELLING & LEE Ltd. May 26, 1961, No. 19077/61. Class 38 (1). A socket outlet comprises a socket contact 22 and a pair of spring contacts 31, 32 positioned so that they are normally in contact with one another, and are separated by insertion into the socket 22, of a plug pin having an insulating portion 4 and a conducting portion 3, the insulating portion 4 being interposed between the spring contacts 31, 32. In a preferred embodiment the socket 22 is associated with at least one other socket 21, and the plug pin is associated with at least one other pin which is shorter than the plug pin and has only a conducting portion. This shorter pin may be inserted into the socket 22 leaving the spring contacts 31, 32 in contact with each other (Fig. 5, not shown). In an application of the invention the socket outlet is used to connect an extension loudspeaker to a tape recorder, radio or radiogram, either in parallel with an internal loud-speaker or in place of the internal loud-speaker (Fig. 6, not shown).
