Abstract

Class 38(1) An electric plug comprises a base 1 housing an insulating block 6 having apertures in which are located spring loaded connector elements 7, 8 and 9 electrically connected to the ends 10, 14 and 12 of an earth pin 5 and two current pins 4 projecting from the base, a fuse 15 being provided in the connection between one current pin 4 and the element 8. Complementary recesses in the base 1 and a cover 2 define three holes 18, 19 and 20 opposite the elements 7, 8 and 9, and push buttons 21, 22 and 23 aligned with the connector elements are provided. Wire ends to be temporarily coupled to a normal socket outlet can be inserted through the holes 18, 19 and 20 and can be received by the connector elements, the appropriate push button being depressed to separate the spring loaded components of the connector element and then released to allow the components to come together and grip the wire end firmly.
