Abstract

578,807. Couplings. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Jan. 24, 1944, No. 1284. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1943. Addition to 566,205. [Class 38 (i)] A connector for securing a flat-type flex to a telephone instrument, of the kind described in the parent Specification, and comprising a block 50 by which the flex 15 is gripped when screws 52, 54 are tightened and contact members 1-3 located so that the prongs into which each contact is divided penetrate the conductors in the flex has the contact members removably fitted into slots in the block 50. The slots are separated by ribs 4, 61, 62 and pass through a ridge 55 that enters a groove 14 in which the flex lies, a projection 56 on the ridge clamping the flex against a dowardly-inclined part 16 of the groove. The contacts 1-3 have projections 67, 68 that spring into recesses 65, 66 when the prongs are forced through the slots from above. The screws 52-54 enter bushes 12 which are moulded into the base 11 of the telephone instrument and have terminal lugs 13 to which the circuit leads are connected.
