Abstract

795,439. Lamp-holders. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 10, 1957, No. 1019/57. Class 38 (1). In a holder for one end of a double-ended lamp comprising a hollow body 1 in which a contact-supporting member 5 is slidable and biased outwardly of the body by current-carrying springs 9 which abut terminals 8 at their inner ends and at their outer ends have knuckle portions 18 projecting beyond the member 5 to form contacts, outward movement of member 5 is limited by a shoulder 11 on an earthing strip 12 secured to the body. The shoulder 11 engages the inner end of a recess 15 in member 5 in which lies a finger 14 extending outwardly from the shoulder 11 and adapted to engage the cap of a lamp when the latter is inserted in the holder. A sloping face 20 on member 5 facilitates lateral insertion of the lamp cap between locating projections 19 and a shroud 22 previously slid over the end of the lamp is slid on to the holder after insertion of the lamp.
