Abstract

1,015,893. Lamp caps and holders. UNITEDCARR Inc. Oct. 14, 1963, No. 40499/63. Heading H2E. A socket for a lamp of the type with a central base contact and lateral studs or pins projecting from its cap comprises an insulating body 10 formed with slots 26, 28 for receiving contact elements. Of these, 12 and 14 have forwardly bent arms 50, 58 which engage with the lamp cap pins 52, Fig. 8 (not shown) and may have arc-shaped ends. Element 16, Fig. 7 (not shown), provides a resilient connection for the lamp base contact. Elements 14 and 16 also have embossed portions 62 and 68. The lamp pins are inserted in slots 26 and press the arms 50, 58 outwardly until the pins snap beyond the ends of the arms. Grooves 74, Fig. 8, adjacent to slots 26, facilitate withdrawal of the lamp by receiving the cap pins when they are disengaged from elements 12 and 14 by rotating and applying axial pressure.
