Abstract

1,056,741. Lamp-holders. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. April 8, 1964 [June 14, 1963], No. 23861/63. Heading H2E. A lamp-holder for an electric lamp 15 having a flattened, oblong-shaped base provided with external contacts 17 on its side walls, comprises a resilient or semi-resilient insulating body having two connected and relatively movable portions, each having two parts 5a and 6a forming a recess, and the two recesses cooperating to form a cavity to receive the lamp base. Each part 5a is radially movable so that it can resiliently engage the base of an inserted lamp and so hold it in the cavity in a position to engage contacts 11 disposed in the cavity. The parts of the base 5a and 6a are joined together by a web of insulating material, part 6a being rigidly fixed to mounting flange 8, but a gap being left between part 5a and the flange so that part 5a can move outwardly to accommodate the base of the lamp, but is prevented from moving too far in the direction by abutment against the flange. Part 5a has an enlargement 5b which co-operates with a groove in the lamp base and urges it towards contact 11. Contact 11 has an extension 12 with enlargements 13 to engage the circuitry of a printed circuit board in which the holder may be mounted.
