Abstract

877,946. Lamp holders. NOMA ELECTRIC CO. Ltd., and CAPEL, F. E. Jan. 12, 1959, No. 1144/59. Class 38 (1). A holder for capless electric lamps comprises a lamp-receiving cap 3 that fits frictionally in one end of a tubular member 9 having a restricted opening at the other end for passage of conductor wires F, the cap having holes 5 to locate the lamp terminal wires 1, which are bent radially outwards and over the outer surface of the cap so as to engage the conductor wires, or brass contacts 21 thereon, when the cap and lamp are inserted. A wedge-fitting plug 10 with grooves 11, 11<1> locates the wires F and contacts 21 in the tubular member 9. Alternatively, the tubular member may have internal integral ribs to separate the wires and provide compartments for contacts of arcuate strip form (Fig. 5, not shown). To improve inter-engagement between the cap 3, member 9 and the contacts, the cap may have bored legs to take the lamp wires and straddle the ribs (Fig. 9, not shown). The cap and tubular member are of conductive, e.g. plastics, material.
