Abstract
1,018,637. Indicator lamp housings. AMP Inc. Oct. 8, 1964 [Oct. 25, 1963], No. 41023/64. Heading F4R. An insulating housing for an electric indicator lamp 26 comprises a recess formed by a base 1 and side walls 2, a cover C hinged to the housing by an integral strip 9, a sleeve 3 adapted to receive the lamp and extending from the base of the recess, and a lamp cover or lens L. The sleeve and lamp cover are externally ribbed so that they may be inserted with a resilient frictional fit into opposite ends of a bore in an indicator board or panel, the extent of insertion being limited by pillars 4 and a shoulder 25 respectively. The sleeve has an end portion 13 of reduced diameter over which the cover L can be fitted. The leads 27, 31 from the lamp 26 are passed around pillars 5 in the recess and are clamped in slots at the top of posts 6 by electrical connectors CE. These connectors have cupshaped portions 17 with central apertures 18 from which radial slits 19 extend, and can be pushed over the posts to grip the latter resiliently. Projecting sections 14 of the connectors are clamped around conductors 16 which extend through apertures in the walls 2 adjacent the hinge strip 9. The walls 2 have thin extensions 2<SP>1</SP> which are bent over and secured to the cover when the latter has been closed. The housing may be made of nylon or polypropylene.
