Abstract

934,637. Connecting wires and cables. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING CO. March 21, 1960 [March 19, 1959], No. 9917/60. Class 38 (1). A connector for wire conductors comprises an insulating base member 11 with tubular passages 12, 13, 14 for the insertion of wires 35 and a U-shaped conductive member formed from a resilient metal sheet and having slots 17, 19. The slots form jaws into which the wires 35 are forced when the metal member 15 is pushed down to enter slots 20, 21 in the base 11 where it is held by ridges 23 on a cap 22. The edges of the slots cut through the insulation 37 and engage the wires 35. The interstices may be filled with suitable soft plastic insulating materials to prevent entry of liquids and vapours. In modifications the conductive member is in the form of a slotted flat or curved plate and the base may be conductive.
