Abstract

1438657 Electrical connectors POST OFFICE 22 Aug 1973 [23 Aug 1972] 39283/72 Heading H2E A connector comprises a portion having a mouth 12, a tongue 18 for movement through the mouth and means, e.g. a concave portion on the end of the tongue (Fig. 3, not shown) to assist in locating an insulated conductor 24 across the mouth. In use, Fig. 4, tongue 18 is moved, e.g. by pliers, through the mouth to force the conductor past the edges of the mouth which so strip lengths of insulation from the conductor and make an electrical connection to the conductor. In Fig. 6, not shown, three tongues are provided, a central one (46) to strip off the conductor insulation and make a connection, an end one (54) to chop off the unwanted end portion of the wire and one (56) adjacent the point where the wire enters the connector which deforms the wire and acts as a strain relief device. In Fig. 5, not shown, a plastics terminal block has posts (36) between which connectors can be pushed, the posts being such that insertion of a connector causes it to be compressed and strip the insulation from a wire; more than one wire may be provided in each connector. In Fig. 12, not shown, associated grooves in the mouth receive separate wires so that on insertion of the tongue (168) associated lengths of the two wires are stripped and brought into electrical connection.
