In an electric lamp-holder of the type where a lamp is screwed into a thread in the body or into a threaded metal insert, two resilient terminal strips 11, 12 lying in passages 7, 8 communicating with a groove 6 containing a twin core cable 19, serve to make contact between the cap and end terminals of the lamp and the cable, the insulating core of the cable being pierced by pin type arrangements 17 to make contact with the cores. In accordance with the invention, the groove is so formed that the clamping of the cable within the groove seals off moisture from the ends of the passages. The use of a resilient ring 23 between the lamp and the holder also seals off moisture. A disc arrangement 21 clamps the cable to the base of the socket. The body is formed of a resilient plastic material. Ring 23 may be formed integrally with the body or may be a separate element.
