Abstract

865,868. Lamp-holders. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug..16, 1957 [Aug. 31, 1956], No. 26699/56. Class 38(1). In a holder for a lamp of the type described in Specification 797,441, wherein lead-in wires are bent round a flattened pinch to form contacts located on opposite sides of the pinch at diagonally opposite positions, an insulating body 4 is provided with an elongated lamp receiving opening in which are located V-shaped spring contact members 6. One limb of each contact is formed with a kink 7 adjacent the free end thereof and the contacts are arranged such that when a lamp is inserted in the holder they bear on opposite sides of the pinch 1 to engage the lamp contacts 2, the kink 7 also engaging notches 5 in the pinch to retain the lamp in the holder. The other limb of each contact may be bent over as shown at 6a and bear against an interior wall of the body 4, or may be extended downwardly to form a terminal (Fig. 7, not shown). Fig. 10 shows another construction wherein both limbs of each contact 10 are formed with kinks 13 adapted to engage on opposite sides of the lamp pinch. The holder body may be adapted for attachment to a panel by means of nuts and bolts or by a spring clip. Part of a reflector may also be formed integrally with the holder body or as shown in Fig. 15, a circular body 22 may have a number of longitudinal ribs 23 formed thereon providing an interference fit between the body and the mounting panel hole 24.
