Abstract

1406767 Lampholders SOCOP SA 6 June 1973 [3 Nov 1972] 27003/73 Heading H2E A socket for holding a flat-stemmed lamp is suitable for mounting through a plate A having, on one or both faces, conductors diametrically opposed at the periphery of the mounting aperture. The socket carries contacts 9, 10 which detachably mount the lamp and electrically connect the lamp terminals to the plate conductors. Each contact 9, 10 comprises a generally V-shaped spring strip, Figs. 6, 7, located in a peripheral recess in the socket body and having outwardly-bent ends 11, 16, projecting through a cut-out 4, 5 in a neck of the body. The ends 11, 16 grip the plate and make electrical connection with a plate conductor. Lateral tongues 12 bent up from the inwardly facing portions of each V-shaped contact 9, 10, engage in grooves of the body to steady the lower portion of the contact when the bent end 11 is resiliently displaced by the panel A. Bent up plates 13 are shaped to form resilient contact portions 13a, 13b which grip the lamp stem and make contact with one of its terminal conductors. The contact 9, 10 is stiffened by a rib 14 formed in its inward-facing portion, and is snapfitted into the socket body by a resilient tongue 15 engaging a slot 7, 8. A modification of the socket for double-filament lamps is envisaged.
