Abstract

1,161,553. Lampholders. PRESSAC Ltd. 17 Nov., 1966 [23 Feb., 1966], No. 7836/66. Heading H2E. A lampholder contact is double-ended with a portion 3 for engaging a mating contact which is attached to a lead wire and a pair of blades 1, bent at right-angles from a plate 2, for receiving a capless lamp, and is further provided with locking means securing it in the holder. The portion 3 may comprise a spring clip, Fig. 1, formed by rolling opposite edges of the plate 2, or either a flat blade, Fig. 13, or a hollow pin (Fig. 2, not shown) blade. An earthing contact 4 may extend from the plate 2, this having either an outward dimple, Fig. 1, or an outwardly bent portion, Fig. 13, for engaging a metal chassis in which the lampholder is mounted. Alternatively, the earthing contact 4 engages printed circuitry on a support panel for the lampholder or terminates in a blade (6, Fig. 4, not shown) for receiving a socket contact attached to an earthing lead. The securing means may be in the form of spring detents 7, 8 and 9 on the contact engaging shoulders in the lampholder body. In a modification (Fig. 9, not shown) the contact portion 3 is omitted, the contact having a pair of opposed blades 1 for receiving a lamp base and a blade 6 for receiving a socket contact attached to an earthing lead.
