Abstract

1517635 Vehicle lamps PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 Aug 1976 [22 Aug 1975] 34600/76 Heading F4R A sealed beam vehicle headlamp is combined with a parking lamp mounted on, and with at least one electrical connection to, contact lugs 9, 10 and is arranged to shine through a transparent section 5 of the headlamp mirror 2. In one arrangement, as shown, the parking lamp has a holder with a plate section 16 having an opening 21 and further slots defining a U- shaped aperture and a resilient tongue 23 so that the holder can be slid on to the lugs 9, 10 until small lugs 24, 25 bent therefrom snap into recesses in the tongue 23. There are three contact lugs in all. A spring contact wiper (30) (Fig. 2, not shown) connected to one end of the parking lamp socket contacts makes connection with one of the lugs (11) which in use is connected to an earth line. In another embodiment, the resilient tongue 23 is replaced by a sliding plate (32) (Figs. 3, 4, not shown) attached to the holder. In a further embodiment the parking lamp holder has apertures to receive the small lugs 24, 25 before they are bent away from the contact lugs 9, 10 so that on being bent down on to the holder a more permanent mounting is made. A section of the holder near the bulb is removable (Figs. 5, 6, not shown).
