Abstract

896,795. Lamp-holders. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. May 1, 1959 [May 14, 1958], No. 14967/59. Class 38 (1). A bulb holder for automobile lamps permits the use of a standard bayonet cap doublefilament bulb in a lamp of the type to which current is supplied through a connector normally coupled to a bulb unit having a pin-plug type of cap. As shown, a socket 1 for a bayonet cap double-filament bulb 2 has a mounting flange 3 for securing the socket to a reflector 4 and carries a transverse insulating plate 5 which provides a base for mounting contact fingers 6, 7. These fingers make contact with terminals on the bulb cap and are secured to the plate by screws and nuts 8, 9. Two other insulating plates 11, 12 are mounted on the screws, and flat-conducting strips 13, 14, 15 are fitted between these plates. The strips are bent to form plug pins and the other ends of the strips 13, 14 are secured on the screws 8 when nuts 17 are tightened. The other end of the strip 15 makes contact with the rear part of the socket 1 to which it may also be soldered. The plates 11, 12 have cut-out portions 19 to provide for the insertion of a parking light bulb, and the flange 3 is slotted 20 to allow light from the parking light bulb to shine through.
