Abstract
683,747. Bicycle lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. March 13, 1951 [March 16, 1950], No. 6010/51. Classes 75(ii), 75(iii) and 75(iv) In a bicycle headlamp comprising a housing 1 through which the handlebars 13 pass, the front lens 2 has a cavity 7, at the back containing at least part of the lamp bulb 8 and the back surface 12 of the lens reflects light forwardy along the lens axis. The focus of the lens is preferably within the cavity 7. The lamp holder is located above the handlebars and comprises two springs 3, 4 extending from a clamping screw 6 on the rear of the housing, one spring 3 being connected to the housing, the other 4 being insulated from the housing but connected to the clamping screw 6. A small lower portion 16 of the housing is removable and forms, with the main portion of the housing, apertures for the handlebars. The housing can be tilted about the handlebars.
