Abstract

1,226,576. Lampholders. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 28 March 1968 [30 March, 1967], No. 14877/68. Heading H2E. A lamp socket 11 is joined to a transparent cover 23 by tabs 33a, 34a locating in apertures, e.g. 37, in the socket; the assembly being mounted in a panel 32, e.g. a car dashboard, by passing cams 27, 28 on the cover through cutouts 29 in an aperture 31 until shoulders e.g. 26 on the cover abut the underside of the panel and then rotating the assembly so that inclined surfaces of the cams e.g. 27b ride over the panel's upper surface locking the assembly to the panel between the cams and the shoulders. A resilient locking member 41 is initially depressed towards the socket on insertion of the assembly, but springs into a cut-out 29 when the assembly is rotated. A bulb 22 contacts ends of the terminals e.g. 17 in the socket, while the other ends of the terminals e.g. 17b contact printed circuitry on the underside of the panel. The cams, shoulders and locking member may be distributed between the cover 23 and socket 11 in various ways.
