Abstract

[Also in Division F4] A vehicle lamp comprises a housing including a base having a flat surface portion, a shock reducing mounting of soft flexible rubber-like material having a portion engaging the surface portion of the base and at least one nipple extending upwards and having a reduced neck portion and terminating at a lateral lip wider than the neck portion, a lamp socket member formed with an aperture receiving the nipple neck, a lens and means for securing the lens to the housing. In the form shown, the base 65 has a peripheral wall 66 formed with a groove 68 to receive a gasket 69 which engages in a corresponding groove in a transparent or translucent cover 71 for the lamp. A mounting member 80 of soft rubber is secured to the base 65 by a plate 87 and an upwardly sloping central part 83 terminating in a neck 85 having an outturned flange 86 over which the base of the lamp assembly 90 fits. The base carries socket element 95 to receive the bases of a pair of bulbs 100 and a slotted insulating plate 98 through which the arms 101 of a contact member extend to engage the centre contacts of the bulbs. The cover may be formed with ribs to act as a lens for each bulb. A modified form for a single bulb is described.
