Abstract

1,246,956. Lamp holders. DOMINION AUTO ACCESSORIES Ltd. 28 Jan., 1970 [12 Feb., 1969], No. 4091/70. Heading H2E. A lamp holder assembly for a motor vehicle comprises a resilient insulating body 11 provided with a socket aperture 14, a first terminalreceiving aperture 20 of rectangular cross-section which perpendicularly meets the socket aperture 14, and a second terminal-receiving aperture 21, which also meets the socket aperture 14. A first terminal 50 of U-shaped metal is located in the aperture 20 to contact the centre terminal of a lamp inserted in the socket aperture 14 and is provided with two parallel ribbons 62a, (62b, Fig. 6, not shown) in the arm 56 to lock in a conducting wire (58, Fig. 1, not shown). A second terminal 68 comprises a strap 70 with portions 71, 72 which are inserted in the aperture 21, the portion 72 lying in a groove 44, in the socket aperture, and extending arms 74, 75 with apertures 78 for earthing to a vehicle body. A socket contact 80 is locked in the aperture 44 by means of tabs 84, 85 which fit in a groove 42 with a recess (46, Fig. 2, not shown) and a tab (92, Fig. 4, not shown) fitting in the aperture 21 which also establishes electrical contact with portions 72, 72 of the earthed terminal 68. The socket member is provided with J-slots 86 to lock in a lamp.
