Abstract

1,247,809. Two-part couplings. SIEMENS A.G. 26 Nov., 1969 [27 Nov., 1968], No. 57765/69. Heading H2E. A spring contact 1 which can be assembled in a cavity in the insulating body of an electrical connector, and which is locked in said cavity by means of a barb 6 in a U-section casing 4, comprises two resilient legs 2 having flat faces biased towards one another, and being connected by a U-section channel portion 9 having tongues 10 for crimping to a conductor cable and end tongues 10a for crimping to the insulation. To protect the legs 2 the U-section casing 4 is made integral with the channel portion 9 in the assembled condition (Fig. 1b not shown). The casing 4 has two openings separated by a web 5 against which bear two lugs 3 on the legs 2 which are thus held apart a predetermined distance. The barb may be released by a tool (8) inserted in groove (19) in the cavity (Figs. 2a and 2b, not shown). The contact and casing can be made from stampings of sheet metal and spot welded together, or from one stamping (Fig. 3a not shown).
