Abstract
532,590. Lamp caps and holders. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd.. RUFF, H. R., and RULE, W. Sept. 8, 1939, No. 25455. [Class 38 (i)] A tubular lamp having contact pins projecting in an axial direction at each end, such as described in Specification 526,713, has an insulating disc located across the ends of the pins to shield them from accidental contact. The disc 3, Fig. 1, may be attached to the cap 2 by a segmental wall 3a, or by peripheral rods that may slide on the cap to allow the disc to be pushed into contact with the outer face of the socket member. Alternatively the disc 6, Fig. 2, may be fixed on the ends of the contact pins 4 or on a central dummy pin, and in these cases the slots to receive the contact pins or dummy pin extend through the socket member. The shield may be applied to contact caps that are inserted directly into the holder without rotation.
