Abstract

968,947. Two-part couplings. SEALECTRO CORPORATION, and S. T. DEAKIN. Aug. 20, 1963 [Aug. 21, 1962], No. 32115/62. Heading H2E. An electrical socket comprises a contact made from strip material one end 27 being bent to form a U- or V-shape to receive the plug contact transversely to the strip length, the other end 28, bent to enter the mouth of the U or V to resiliently press the plug against the bottom of the U or V. The contacts are mounted on a base by means of lugs 32, and lever 35 makes pivotal engagement in the corner between base 29 and side 37, while limb 38 bears on side 39 of the triangle. The other end of the lever 40 fits into slot 41 in ring 12 which is rotatable within limits set by rivets 15 being movable in grooves 19. As the ring is rotated the lever pulls end 28 from the mouth of the U or V and allows the plug contact to be easily inserted. In a second embodiment the ring is not used and pegs on the cover engage the contact. When the cover is rotated the contact is pivoted against a fixed abutment on the base and the end 28 of the contact is withdrawn from the U.
